Los Angeles based artist, Jhameel, combines funk, pop and rock with his unique vocal stylings (which hauntingly remind of us the late, great Michael Jackson). It’s hard to imagine this MJ sound-alike barking orders to young soldiers in the middle east, but that was almost his future. Fortunately for us, his ideals conflicted with those of the US Military and instead we get to listen to his latest single Feisty from his upcoming album titled Lion’s Den. A track which when I first heard blew me away. I definitely thought, “wow this a great Michael Jackson use of a Michael Jackson sample.” But I quickly realized I never heard this MJ track and listened again in amazement.
In addition to obvious talent, he also sets a precedent for smart music. According to his bio he speaks Arabic, Spanish, Korean, and Russian (oh and English, too, of course). Oh , and you like the explosive brass and synth? Yeah, he plays those, in addition to just about every other instrument on the planet. And after he’s done laying down each track, he heads to the mixing board where he masters and produces his own work.
The kid isn’t even afraid to dance:
Look for more great tracks set to drop later this September on his third album, Lion’s Den.
